Extra lives
Obtain the Mega Tank, full life energy, and fully charged weapons. Pause game play on a screen with as many opponents as possible. Use the Mega Tank to turn all the opponents into extra lives.
Sound test
Successfully complete all levels in time attack mode. A "Sound Test Mode" option will now be unlocked at the mode selection screen.
Beat helper
Collect the letters M, E, G, A, M, A, N, and V during game play to unlock Beat the bird.
Time attack mode
Successfully complete the game in enhanced mode. An option for "Time Attack" will now be unlocked at the mode selection screen.
Dr. Wily's Fortress: Locating Dr. Wily
Get BEAT the bird, and get to Dr. Wily's Fortress (last stage). When you fight Dr. Wily when he is in his spaceship, use BEAT. When he disappears, jump up and BEAT will fly around in a circle. That is where Dr. Wily will end up.
Protoman's Fortress: Defeating robots
At the end of each level is a robot Boss. Get BEAT the bird and use it on the Bosses. When BEAT is in use, jump over the Boss when it gets near you.
Collecting M E G A M A N V letters
M: Gravity Man
E: Wave Man
G: Rock Man (difficult to find)
A: Gyro Man
M: Star Man
A: Charge Man
N: Napalm Man
V: Crystal Man
Alternate Rockman
Highlight the "Navi Mode" option at the mode selection screen. Hold [R2], then select Navi Mode. Rockman will no longer have his helmet.
Level passwords
Enter one of the following passwords by placing a red or blue ball at the corresponding location.
Level - Red balls - Blue balls:
Wave Man - B1/6 D3 - B3 E6 F1
Star Man - B1/6 F4 - C4 E6 F1
Gravity Man - A5 B1 F4 - C4 E5 F1
Gyro Man - A5 B1 E3 - B3 E5 F1
